William Morris tribute

Though I have encountered his patterns many times before, it wasn't until this year that I stayed with the name William Morris and I got to know more about the Arts and Crafts movement that started in England as a response to the utilitarianism and its consequent ugliness that derived from industrialism. Arts_and_Crafts_movement William Morris and his cohorts brought with this movement - that eventually expanded worldwide - the revival of crafts, handmanship and beauty in everyday objects.
There was an exhibition recently in Madrid that introduced me to the subject and in these past couple of months I feel it is everywhere. Loewe, Spanish luxury leather goods brand, used William Morris prints on its Fall line bags. Jonathan Anderson, its creative drector, an Englishman, appears to be a great Crafts fan as among other things he has created a Loewe Craft Prize, which by the way is worth checking out also if you like design and crafts. craftprize.loewe Then browsing through equilter.com, my favorite fabric store I found out they have reissued fabric with his prints, which, of course, I had to get. And finally, Alicia brought back from London a quilting magazine with a special supplement on William Morris.

Aunque considero sus diseños bien conocidos, no ha sido hasta este año que me quedé con el nombre William Morris, y me enteré más de lo que iba el movimiento Arts and Crafts que empezó en Inglaterra como respuesta al industrialismo y la, a menudo fea, funcionalidad instalada en la vida cotidiana. So, I was sooo excited when my fabric came in the mail. After lots of thinking and because the colors really go with the color scheme in our living room, I decided to go for cushions. I mixed and matched, added velvet ribbons, and I think they look lovely against the beige sofa. What do you think?

Mezclé y combiné estampados, añadí alguna cinta de terciopelo y creo que quedan muy bien encima de mi sofá beige. ¿Qué os parecen?
